At Spartan Electrical we are happy to announce our new partnership with Australian charity The Jodi Lee Foundation and we’re lacing up our hiking boots to show our support!

The Jodi Lee Foundation was established in 2010 after Nick Lee sadly lost his wife Jodi to bowel cancer at the young age of 41. The foundation encourages people to take active steps to prevent bowel cancer by screening regularly, acting quickly on symptoms and leading healthy and active lifestyles. Here at Spartan we feel that working together with The Jodie Lee Foundation, we can create an Australia that doesn’t have to deal with such tragic loss at the hands of bowel cancer.

The money raised by The Jodi Lee Foundation is used to fund national bowel cancer awareness campaigns; a Corporate Bowel Screening Program to encourage the screening of employees; and research to improve the early detection of bowel cancer.

The Corporate Bowel Screening program is particularly close to our hearts, as it is through this program that the founder of Spartan Electrical discovered polyps that he was informed would have developed into bowel cancer if they had remained undetected.

This program, and the other work of The Jodi Lee Foundation is truly lifesaving.

Chris Tsoutouras of Spartan Electrical, says this new partnership will allow Spartan to continue its focus on giving back to the community in a meaningful way, with a new focus on bowel cancer prevention.

“We couldn’t be happier with our decision to support The Jodi Lee Foundation and the great work it does both here in South Australia and at a national level,” Chris said.

“Its Corporate Bowel Screening Program is just one of a range of important initiatives that send a very clear message – be proactive about your health and screen regularly to prevent bowel cancer.

My father, and founder of Spartan Electrical, screened through the corporate program and as a result had polyps removed that the surgeon said would have developed into bowel cancer. We are grateful to The Jodi Lee Foundation for providing the opportunity for our employees and management to screen for this silent killer, and we look forward to a successful partnership ahead.”

To raise funds for this important cause, The Jodi Lee Foundation is hosting their annual event ‘The SA Hiking Challenge’ again this year. Entrants will take on part of the Heysen trail in an 80km challenge on May 22 and 23 (a little over a month away!) through the State’s Copper Country in the mid-north.

To show our dedication, Spartan Electrical is not only sponsoring The SA Hiking Challenge, but a group of our employees and management have also chosen to enter the event as Team Spartan! And they’ll all be wearing the charities signature black tutu whilst doing so (we’ll be sure to post a picture for your viewing pleasure!)

Registrations for the challenge are now closed but you can still donate to Team Spartan and The Jodi Lee Foundation here: http://www.jodileefoundation.org.au/team-spartan?event_id=7219

We’re excited for what the future holds for our partnership with The Jodi Lee Foundation and will be certain to keep everyone posted on our collective projects (especially those tutus!) We look forward to helping build a healthier and bowel cancer free future for all Australians.
